This basic table is tried and true and has been around for many years and as a piece of outdoor furniture it will enhance your patio.. It is very simple to construct and will last for years.

Right Angle Drill

It comes in many different designs. This one is made solely of 2*4 dressed, treated lumber.

Equipment Required

It could be made with a hand saw and miter box however it would be easier with an electric circular saw. (Or even a drop arm miter saw.)

A hammer. A square. A small hand plane. Adjustable spanner. Tape measure.

A drill with a 3/8 bit. (2 1/2" holesaw)

Materials list

117 ft 2*4" dressed treated lumber (pine)
8 3/8" * 4" galvanized carriage bolts
Approx 110 3 1/2" galvanized flathead nails

Cutting list

1) Seat & table top 14 pieces @ 72" (1830mm) cut square

2) Seat supports 2 pieces @ 63" (1600mm) 60 degrees opposite angles

3) Table support 2 pieces @ 29" (735mm) 60 degrees opposite angles

4) Legs 4 pieces @ 33" (840mm) 60 degrees parallel angles

5) Braces 2 pieces @ 24" (610mm) 45 degrees opposite angles

6) Table cleat 1 piece @ 29" (735mm) 60 degrees opposite angles

7) Seat cleat 2 pieces @ 10 1/2" (265mm)60 degrees opposite angles

Instructions

1) Cut all the lumber as per the cutting list.

2) On a flat surface make up one of the end frames to the measurements in the diagram. Tack it together with nails.

3) Make up the second end frame so that it is a perfect match of the first.

4) If all measurements are ok, drill the 8 holes and bolt the frames together.

5) Stand the frames up with the legs on the inner side facing each other. Place one of the table top pieces on the outside edge and tack in place 7" from the outside edge. Then tack the other outside table top board in place.

6) Check the distance between the legs. Adjust and then tack in place the 2 outer seat boards also at 7" from the end.

7) Check for square. (Measure corner to corner.) Check to see if 8 boards are going to fit on the table top. (Some lumber varies a little in width.) If ok, nail in place all of the table top and the seats so that the 2*4's are hard up against each other.

8) Mark the center of the table top and fit the table cleat underneath. This is on its flat side. Nail in place from the top.

9) Mark the center of the seats and nail in place the 2 seat cleats from the top.

10) Turn the table upside down. You now need to make sure that the end frames are square and vertical. Use your square. Tack a temporary brace to make sure it doesn't move. Now fit the 2 braces. These you have cut to 45 degrees. One end will be attached to the seat support and the other to the 2*4's of the table top.

11) Turn back upright. Nail the braces from the top and the ends as well. Tidy up the furry edges with a hand plane.

12) If you require an umbrella hole you will need a 2 1/2" hole saw to drill a hole in the center of the table.

13) Enjoy.

Here is a teaching progression for teaching beginners the rotational shot put.

Practice 1:
Focus on the armstrike

Armstrike Progression - 6 reps each hand for each drill

Wrist Flips - warms up arm and wrist, athlete is focusing on holding shot put properly and releasing with a wrist flip. Coaching cues - Keep eyes up to direction of throw, touch middle finger to thumb after release.

Knuckles Together - teaches proper trajectory of the shot and throwing arm motion. Coaching cues - left arm raised 35-40 degrees with thumb down, right arm strikes along angle created by left, knuckles meet, ensuring proper release angle and wrist flip.

Step Back - Now the athlete begins to add the hips to the arm strike. Coaching cue is to drive the shot from the ground up.

Chest Slap - This step begins to incorporate the block of the left side. As the right arm strikes the shot, the left is pulled back and slaps the chest. This allows the athlete to hear and feel the blocking action.

Stand Throws - The athlete applies each of the lessons from the previous drills to the stand throw. As a coach, be careful to only focus on one or two cues for the athlete to focus on at one time.

Right-Left-Right - Now it is time for the athlete to get the feeling of moving through the circle with the shot put. Start slow and focus on getting into a good power position and turning the feet.

Half-Wheels - The athlete is working on turning the hips and landing in a good power position. Coaching cue should be to stay on the outside of the right foot in order to turn it completely into the direction of the throw.

For a beginning thrower, this will be a heavy volume of throws if a competition implement is thrown. It is important to complete each of these drills using both the left hand and the right hand, as this will increase the kinesthetic awareness of the athlete, while helping to prevent overdevelopment of one side of the body. This progression can be completed relatively quickly by a group of athletes, by forming two lines with adequate space between each athlete. The Right-Left-Right and Half-Wheel drills should be done from a circle, as there is an increased risk for errant throws to occur with the more complicated movements.

Practice 2:
Focus: Learning basic movements of rotational shot putting

Drills without implement - complete 20 repetitions of each drill, going each direction.

Pirouettes - Athlete should be balanced and complete a 360 degree revolution. Coaching cue - stay on the inside of pivot foot, stay down on pivot knee, keep knee over toes, sweep leg long with toe up.

Sweep around Cone, Step to Middle - Athlete focuses on sweeping long to the middle and landing with a wrapped upper body. Coaching cue- let the ground come up to the foot, make the x (elbow over knee in middle.)

Wheels hands on knees- Athlete focuses on turning the feet together as a system. Coaching cue - squeeze knees together.

Stand Throws - Without implement, the athlete slowly moves through the stand throw, focusing on turning the feet, knees, and hips into the direction of the throw. Coaching cue - ensure athlete sets up properly in power position, heel-toe relationship, if shot were in hand, is it behind the right foot.

Walking Throws - Athlete slowly goes through the motions of a complete throw, striving to achieve proper positions. Coaching cue - throw from the ground up.

Drills with implement - complete 10 repetitions of each drill with dominant hand only.

Practice 3-5:
Focus: Putting the throw together.

Drills without implement - 10 reps each direction
Pirouettes Wheels Walking Throws

Drills with implement - Complete 4 repetitions with each hand
Armstrike Progression Walking Throws

After completing walking throws, begin to eliminate steps until the throw is one fluid motion.

This week of practice should give your athletes plenty of repetitions to begin to learn proper movement patterns in the rotational shot put. None of these specific drills require a toeboard, so they can be done in nearly any space available for you to use for shot put practice. Remember to make safety a priority, reducing the risk of being hit or injured as much as possible by keeping athletes in safe areas and paying attention. These drills should form the foundation of future practices and meets, serving as a warm-up to full throws.

Advantages of Bevel Gears

Bevel gear is one important type of gears. It can take the force from one direction and change it to another direction. For instance, force from a drill that comes in horizontally can be changed to a vertical force with the use of a bevel gear. It is shaped like a right circular cone with most of its tip cut off. They are largely used in the hafts from the main shaft to the back shaft.

Simple drives are important for linemen to practice and perfect. The drive block is the most fundamental and should be practiced often. When you want to remove an opponent effectively you will use the drive block again and again. If the Defensive lineman is aligned slightly to the right of the offensive linemen then the drive block with pus the defender to the right. When driving start with your play side foot. Move quickly and in a speed bursting motion, make solid contact with your opponent to drive them off in the direction that you want.

Football is all about action and reaction, and those that practice reacting quickly in a variety of directions will dominate the field. This drill will help players quickly change directions on the field. It starts by placing players in a small four square box. Then the player will proceed to jump from on area or box to another, thus forcing the player to jump laterally, diagonally, frontwards, and backwards. Some of the variations can be on legged; either right or left, or changing the order those players will perform the drill.

The Proper Way to Catch a High Football

Because not all throws are perfect you will need to practice making catches that are high or low. As such you need to practice the high passes so that you know to react, here are some basics: Make a diamond with their forefingers and thumbs. When you have your hands extended you are performing a proper catch, remember, and don't ever catch it with your body. Important Tip: never, ever, under any circumstances, for any reason, take your eyes off the ball; even after you have caught it watch the ball until you know that it is safely in your grips. If you are taking your eyes off for any reason you will lose focus and have a greater chance to miss the pass, or worse, fumble the football.

Angle tackling

It is a great idea to practice angle tackles with your defense because not all tackles are made with the opponent right in front of you. Set up a simple drill with two players, on as the offense with the ball running in a straight line, the other as the defender running towards him at some angle. As the opponent comes toward the defender he will need to adjust his body position and shorten the angle, put his foot in front of the opponent, and make sure that he put his head in front of the opponent. A good tackle is now executed as the defender lunges at the opponent wrapping his arms around his opponent grabbing cloth and completing the tackle by pulling him down or pushing him off sides.

The golf swing takeaway is a 1 piece takeaway. To achieve this, here's what we need to do.

1) Keep the left and right forearms straight during address. The arms are relaxed and pointing down. This allows consistency in our setup. The distance from our hands to the body is about 1 palm distance.

2) Imagine a triangle formed between the left and right forearms.
This triangle is maintained in the 1st part of the takeaway.

3) Move this entire triangle to the right during the takeaway.

4) Do not rotate the hands, wrist, or cock the wrist early in the takeaway. Focus on keeping the forearms straight, especially the right forearm. This ensures a wide takeaway and allows the wrist to cock naturally.

5) Once the hands reach around the waist level, allow the shoulders to turn to complete the rotation. A tthe top of the swing, ensure that the left wrist is not cupped or v shaped.

Another point to take note of is the rhythm and tempo. A good rhythm is 1, 2, 3. Count 1 initiates the takeaway, Count 2 is when we reach the top, Count 3 is the transition from backswing to downswing. A slow takeaway and straight right forearm, results in a wide and slow backswing that results in alot of torque and prevents us from jerking down the club too quickly in the downswing.

Last point to note is to maintain the right knee bend angle and prevent it from straightening during the takeaway. We can do this by imagining that we're sitting down on a high chair and have the pressure on the balls of our feet. This provides enough flex in the knees. Be careful not to flex too much also. We should have the right amount of tension in the muscles to maintain the correct angles in golf, and yet not too much that we get all tense and uncomfortable. Everything in the right proportion will allow us to build a nice and enjoyable golf swing.

Drill 1 - Back Knee Down

Right Angle Drill

Purpose: To develop upper-body strength and quickness. The drill helps the player stop lunging by eliminating lower-body movement. The drill can reduce upper cutting. It emphasizes keeping the barrel above the hands and using correct timing.

Procedure: Use a low T for this drill. The hitter kneels on a towel with the back knee at a 90-degree angle, keeping the shoulders on a level plane. The drill can also be done off a soft toss. The player sees the bat hit the ball.

Drill  2 - Bingo

Purpose: To develop a level swing and proper mechanics by offering instant feedback.

Procedure: Position two Ts at the same height with one directly behind the other. The batter drives the back ball into the front ball. The farther apart the Ts, the more difficult it is to hit the front ball because errors are magnified. The path of the hit provides quick feedback on the mechanics of the swing. If the hitter misses to the left, she has an outside-inside swing. If the hitter misses by going above, she is dropping her back shoulder. When successful, the hitter should yell "Bingo."

Drill 3 - Balance Beam

Purpose: To check balance during a swing.

Procedure: The hitter stands on a two-by-four or with both feet on the inner edge or a tire while hitting off the T. A hitter with good balance can stay on the beam throughout the swing.

Drill 4 - Look at Pitcher, Then Hit

Purpose: To practice refocusing from the pitcher to the point of contact.

Procedure: The batter at a T looks out at an imaginary pitcher and then refocuses on the T and takes a normal swing.

Drill 5 - Two Ts

Purpose: To concentrate on hitting to and through the ball on the sweet spot of the bat with a line drive contact.

Procedure: Two Ts are placed at the same height one directly in front of the other with a ball on each. The batter tries to drive the bat through the ball on the first T and into and through the ball on the second T.

How to Sharpen Your Chain Saw

To keep a chain saw sharp, you must sharpen it often. This is not as difficult as it sounds - all you need are a few simple tools and some practice. There are really only 2 steps to sharpening your chain saw. First, you need to file or grind the teeth on the chain to a razor sharp edge, and second you need to adjust the height of the depth guides that regulate the amount of wood taken by each cut.

You can imagine the teeth on the chain as small wood chisels, each one taking a small sliver of wood from the cut, every second tooth cutting from the opposite side. If each tooth takes a consistent amount of wood, at the same angle, and with same amount of effort or force from the saw, then we will get a nice clean cut with a minimum of struggle. When the chain saw doesn't pull to either side and the saw cuts through the wood like butter you know you have a well sharpened chain saw.

Right Angle Drill

When you're learning how to sharpen your chainsaw it's a good idea to tighten the chain so there is very little slack. This will keep the teeth straight and make it easier to maintain a consistent angle when stroking with the round file. You should still be able to move the chain around the bar in a snug fashion. Just remember to loosen the chain before using it again.

Pay attention to the cross angle of the teeth, as well as the upward tilt angle of the sharpened edge. Line up your round file so that it follows the existing angles on the teeth. Gently stroke the file towards the tooth's point (away from the saw body). Watch the guide carefully so you can keep a consistent angle. Always count the number of strokes on each tooth - usually 5 or 6 strokes is enough. Then move on to the next tooth on the chain and stroke 5 or 6 times at the very same angle.

Repeat this pattern for all of the teeth that point in the same direction (every second tooth). Then flip the file guide around and repeat the process for every other alternating tooth pointing to the other side of the saw. Remember, it's very important that every tooth is sharpened the same amount or the saw will pull to one side when you try to cut.

After several sharpenings you will have worn the teeth down slightly. The depth gauges must be filed down so they are no higher than the tops of the teeth on the chain saw. Many people don't know about this step, but if you don't maintain the correct height of the depth guides your chain saw will not cut properly.

All you do is set the depth guide on the chain straddling the teeth and a small notch on the guide will allow you to remove the correct amount from each gauge. Filing the depth gauges is easier than sharpening the teeth because you're only trying to set the height of the depth gauges, not actually sharpen them.
